The U.S. Open Tennis Championships takes place for two weeks in late August at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center and the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Forest Hills, Queens where tennis greats like Venus and Serena Williams, Marin Cilic, and Bob Bryan have taken championship trophies and the nearly $2 million in prize money. The Open is an annual hard-court tennis tournament that draws international athletes, tennis aficionados, and Hollywood celebrities for two weeks of competitive tennis and society events.

The Billie Jean King Tennis Center is currently in the middle of wide-spread renovation including a retractable roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium; two new state-of-the-art stadiums (the new Louis Armstrong Stadium and a new Grandstand); a new pavilion overlooking both the practice courts; and improved grounds.

The Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day takes place on the Saturday before the tournament and features fun tennis activities and entertainment for the entire family. Kids can participate in tennis clinics, workshops, music, and tennis-inspired programs. Each year, the Sunday before the Open begins is called Open Practice Sunday, where the public is invited to attend practice sessions of tournament players completely free of charge. Those who wish to watch competitive matches can avoid the high grandstand seat prices by purchasing a Grounds Admission ticket which provides access to all field courts, the non-reserved seating area of Louis Armstrong Stadium and the Grandstand, but do not permit access to Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Finals Weekend Grounds Admission tickets allow guests watch the Juniors and Wheelchair Championships, as well as the Men’s Doubles and Women’s Singles Final on big-screen TVs located throughout the grounds. You can also enjoy regional cuisine and live entertainment in the Food Village and South Plaza.

The U.S. Open offers a number of dining experiences including Mojito, Champions Bar & Grill, Aces seafood prepared by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, the Patio Café, the Oyster Bar, the Grey Goose Bar, and the Heineken House. The Food Village offers Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Carnegie Deli, Fresca Mexicana, Sweet & Savory Crepes, and more. Additionally, the Tennis Center features a number of shops to purchase tournament souvenirs including the Ralph Lauren Polo Shop, the Wilson shop, and various tennis shops.
